Setting up double page spread
To set up my double page spread I included three pages. Since, originally I was going to include my contents page within the same document, meaning I had two pages together for my DPS and one by itself for my contents page. However, I ended making separate documents for the contents page and double page spread to avoid confusion in the future.
I made the width at 297 millimetres and the width at 210 millimetres which is the same page size as my front cover to ensure that all pages were the same size, since if not, my pages wouldn't look like they were made for the same magazine.
I added four columns since I knew I had lots of writing to add to my double page spread from my interview, plus, I knew that I was only going to have one page of writing - since the other was going to have an image on it. Therefore, I wanted to make sure I had lots of room for writing. I went with a gutter of 4.233 as this was around the same size that most of the equestrian magazines I looked at had when reviewing their media packs. I also wanted to make sure my gutter was fairly big as I knew I had lots of writing and therefore I wanted to ensure everything was separated nicely to avoid confusion to the reader.
Setting up my contents page
I had a gutter of 5mm which is bigger than my double page spread's gutter since I had less writing which was going to look a bit messy as I was originally going to have graphics placed within the columns potentially making everything look separated and uneven, therefore I wanted to be certain that my body copy was still going to look separated in columns to give the conventional contents page denotation.
I had four columns since I was going to have a main image covering half the page, therefore I wanted to have a fair amount of columns to make my page still look like a conventional contents page with various columns.
