This image shows the feedback that I gained on my 4th version control from my client. From this feedback I learnt that my images weren't of a high enough quality and therefore I ended up re-taking my photos y arranging another photoshoot with my model as shown on my 'gaining permissions' blog post. I was also told that I needed to change my house style colours as it was hard to see my mast head against the grey banner since they're both fairly dark - however, due to the fact that I was going to be re-taking my main photos, I decided to wait to make changes to the colours and fonts since I'd most likely change them in order to fit my new photos anyway.
I also ended up doing a survey based on the 3rd version of my front cover as shown in the image below, I sent this survey to a focus group of 6 people.
The following show the results of my survey.
'What are the strengths of my front cover?'
'What are the biggest weaknesses?'
'Does anything look out of place?'
'What can you see in which is conventional to a magazine'
'Do you think the house style colours and fonts work well together? and how?'
From the feedback that I gained on this draft, I realised that my magazine strengths consisted of the that it fits various conventions of a front cover due to the amount of assets such as circle graphics, banners, cell lines, pull quotes, the main cover image and so on. I also came to realise that my house style colours worked well in regards to attracting the right target audience, since pink stereotypically appeals to females, and brown is a fairly gender neutral colour - helping attract my most female, partly male target audience. I was told that the placement of my assets were good as they're evenly spread out and there's a good amount of them - overall the main strengths were the layout and house style colours of my front cover.
My weaknesses are the fact that some of my assets aren't complete, such as the 'sign' graphic at the bottom of the page. other assets such s the circle graphic are also a weakness since it doesn't fit o the page properly, therefore I think i'll end up changing this graphic just to cell lines since if I made this circle graphic any smaller it wouldn't look right. Other weaknesses consist of the fact that some of my fonts are hard to read, more specifically the serif ones, since especially due to their reduced size. Therefore I think I'll either add a stroke or change the font to have bolder denotation in order to make it clear and easier to read. Lastly, the masthead is a weakness since it's fairly small in comparison to other mastheads I've seen during research into other equestrian magazines and according to my feedback hard to read.
